Year 1 Beaconhill Website Page
Welcome to Year 1!
Year One is taught by Mr Shepherd throughout the week and Miss Gallon on a Friday afternoon. Our class teaching assistant this year is Mr Williamson.
Our mornings in Year One are very busy! We start each day with a morning activity, then letters and sounds, guided reading and handwriting. After playtimes and snack we have maths.
By lunchtime we have already learnt a lot!
Afternoons begin with calm, mindfulness colouring or handwriting. We continue our afternoon with our mastering number maths work and then we learn the subjects and topics detailed below.
We have P.E on a Tuesday and Wednesday. Pupils should come into school wearing their P.E kits. For further information see the School Uniform policy here.
We go to the beach each half term to extend our learning outside the classroom. This year we will be covering every subject down at our local beaches.
In the first week, we have devised our own class rules and we will try and be mindful of these rules throughout our school day.
Keep checking back to our class page to see what we have been up to throughout the school year.

https://school360.co.uk/ - once logged on select the Resources Box, this will lead you to a page with icons on for BBC Bitesize and Busy Things. There are a range of activities for each subject that are relevant to our curriculum. The Year 1 curriculum overview is on our class webpage.
Please remember it is important to continue to use a pencil and paper and to encourage and expect good basic skills for example presentation and the use of phonics to spell.
- Cooking and baking together will give opportunities to use maths in the real world.
- Keep a daily diary of what you are doing or the weather outside.
- Design a character for a story, draw them and then describe them.
