It is so lovely to have all the children back and working hard in our classroom. We are lucky to have Mrs Jewitt and Miss Dawson as our class teaching assistants every morning. Year Two's daily timetable is very similar to Year One making the transition slightly easier. Every morning we have daily phonics, reading, mathematics and English lessons. Our afternoons are filled with various interesting topics including The Gunpowder Plot, Healthy Me and Brainy Breakfasts.
I have planning time on a Thursday afternoon and leadership time on a Friday morning so Miss Gallon will teach the children at these times.
I think we are going to have a fabulous year with you all and look forward to getting to know each and every one of you even more.

If your child is poorly we do not expect them to engage with home learning. If they are recovering well, or asymptomatic, you may decide that home learning would be appropriate.
If you feel home learning is suitable here are some home learning resources that are suited to Year 2

Please remember it is important to continue to use a pencil and paper and to encourage and expect good basic skills for example presentation and the use of phonics to spell.
- Cooking and baking together will give opportunities to use maths in the real world.
- Keep a daily diary of what you are doing or the weather outside.
- Design a character for a story, draw them and then describe them.
