Get Involved!

Unfortuntely during COVID19, we have restrictions on visitors entering the building. Please keep visiting this page in the future to see when parent activities resume.

Usually there are lots of ways you can be involved in your child's learning.....

Attend the induction sessions for parents at the beginning of each school year. This is the best way to find out about the classroom routines, expectations, homework, reading books, PE days and so much more.
Attend our Parent workshops. These sessions are designed to share our teaching with you. These workshops usually have a theme, such as e-safety, anti bullying, or a curriculum area.
Keep looking a the school website- especially the curriculum and gallery pages where you can see the planned learning, and evidence of what the pupils have been up to.
Read the newsletters- these are sent home every Thursday. We purposely only send letters to parents on Thursdays, so this is the day to tip that schoolbag upside down!
Support your child's class as a volunteer- hear children read, work with them in the classroom or help with school activities such as swimming and library, all help is most gratefully accepted. Please be aware that all volunteers must be police checked by the school prior to starting.
Keep updated via our Facebook page. There is a link on the homepage of this website.
Ask to see your child's books. This is usually possible after school- please see class teachers to make an appointment.
Stay and play sessions are held each term in Nursery. These give parents the opportunity to play and learn alongside their child.
Attend our parents evenings held in October and February each year. Teachers will spend time with you discussing how your child has settled in, the targets we have set for them, the progress they have made and how you can support learning at home.
Enjoy reading your child's written report in the summer. These are a real celebration of your child's achievements. Teachers spend lots of time on these so that you can keep them to look back on in years to come. The photographs add a lovely dimension to this record of work.
Support your child with reading books and homework each week; this is a good opportunity to find out more about the curriculum.
Come to your child's class assemblies, and find out what they have been learning about. Parent forum is often held after each class assembly. This is an informal opportunity to meet the headteacher and discuss any school related matters. Often, this might include proposed changes to policy, or planned initiatives. It is also a forum for parents to bring concerns or ideas for discussion. Areas discussed recently have been Beach School, behaviour, attendance, lunchtime arrangements and merit jumpers for Y6.
Look at the National Curriculum to see the objectives in each subject for your child's year group. You can access the document by clicking on the link below:
