Admission Arrangements

Beaconhill Community Primary School is a Community Co-educational school with day pupils aged 4 - 11 years. There is also a Nursery Unit, which caters for children from 3 years. Prospective parents are always welcome to visit the school after making arrangements with the Headteacher. New pupils are encouraged to visit us with their parents before starting school.

Reception

In line with Northumberland County Council's admissions policy, as outlined on the Northumberland County website, Reception children are normally admitted to school in the September following their fourth birthday (i.e. rising five). Our standard admission number is 30.

Every parent must express a preference school including those who attend our Nursery and those who are resident within the catchment area. Applications can be made using the Northumberland online portal (link below).

Nursery

Children can start Nursery in the term after their 3rd birthday. An introductory parents meeting and a stay and play session are held before the end of the term before the pupils start so that the parents and children can get a feel for what goes on.

To put your child's name down for our Nursery an application form needs to be completed. These can be downloaded below or a paper copy may be picked up from the school office. Completed forms must be emailed or handed in to the school and are filed in the order we receive them for the different Nursery intakes. You may apply for a place as soon as your child is born.

If your child attends our Nursery they will still need to apply for Reception using the Northumberland online portal usually in the November before starting in Reception.
Starting School at Other Times

If families wish to enrol their children in any year group at other times, then an 'in term admission' form needs to be completed on the county website to request a place. This form is available here online from Northumberland County Council and should be completed and returned to them so that places can be allocated.
