Holidays/Illness and Medication
We believe that children can reach their full potential only by receiving full-time education, through regular attendance. As from the 1st September 2013, Headteachers shall not grant a request for a leave of absence unless an application has been made in advance to the school, and when such a request is made, any leave can only be authorised if there are exceptional circumstances relating to that application, as detailed in the attendance policy;
'The Headteacher considers carefully all absences from school; term time holidays are not authorised other than in the most extenuating of circumstances, such as
- wedding/ funeral/ significant family event
- contractual holiday restriction
- armed forces holiday allocation'
If your child is ill, please telephone the school office before 9:00am to let us know.
In cases of sickness and/or diarrhoea please leave a period of 24 hours since the last bout before returning to school. In instances of increased cases of either sickness or diarrhoea in school the head teacher may decide to increase this time period to 48 hours. Parents will be informed should this be the case.
In the event of a child becoming ill or having an accident in school, the Head teacher will need to contact parents quickly. You are asked therefore, to give the school a telephone number of an EMERGENCY CONTACT, in case you cannot be reached at home.
Administration of Medicines
Inhalers must be clearly labelled and are kept in the first aid room.
We can only administer prescribed medicines to a child if your doctor has stipulated that they are administered 4 times a day.
Parents must complete a care plan before any medication is administered, please request one from Mrs Birks or Miss Stephenson at school.
